Ashley Olsen speaks outon sister's eating disorder
LOS ANGELES -- The "health-related issue" Mary-Kate Olsen is seeking treatment for is something she has struggled with for some time, her twin sister, Ashley, told People magazine.
Both People and Us Weekly have reported that Mary-Kate has an eating disorder. Her publicist, Michael Pagnotta, has said only that she entered a treatment facility recently "to seek professional help for a health-related issue."
"She's hanging in there," Ashley Olsen said of her sister, adding family members were very appreciative of the public support they have received since Mary-Kate's problem was disclosed.
"The support's been really amazing," Ashley Olsen said.
She added that her sister had been struggling with the problem for "quite awhile" before the family stepped in and got help for her.
"She is taking the time she needs for herself right now," Ashley Olsen told People. "Right now is especially a good time right before school so she can get healthy."
The twins, whose most recent movie is "New York Minute," turned 18 earlier this month and plan to attend New York University in the fall.
'Survivor' winner's bikinisin firefighters display
BEAVER, Pa. -- Curators everywhere are casting their jealous eyes on the Beaver Area Historical Museum, which just scored the coup of the year by displaying "Survivor" winner Amber Brkich's used clothing.
Brkich, who got $1 million and a fianc & eacute; while winning "Survivor All-Stars," donated bikinis she wore on the show to an exhibition celebrating firefighters in her western Pennsylvania hometown. "Those guys [firefighters] are the real survivors," Brkich said.
It just occurs to us that Brkich could make a tidy living on the lecture circuit going from town to town, using that same line: "Readers of Nicholas Sparks books ... Barry Manilow concert-goers ... Viewers of 'Who Wants to Marry My Dad' ... are the real survivors."
Asked how a reality-show contestant links to the 170-year history of firefighting in Beaver, a museum board member said the following: "There are people making history right now in 2004, and Amber is certainly one of those." Oh.
