HOUSTON -- Kedra Holland-Corn scored 21 points and Sheryl Swoopes added 16 to lift Houston past Washington. Chamique Holdsclaw scored a game-high 20 points for Washington, which lost for the second time in three games. Stacey Dales-Schuman added 12 points for the Mystics. After Washington took a 53-50 lead on a three-point play by Chasity Melvin with 7:19 left, the Comets responded with a 12-3 run to take a 62-55 lead with 4:26 to go. Sheila Lambert, who finished with 11 points and a team-high five assists and 11 rebounds, scored six points during the run, while Swoopes added four.
Sun 74, Shock 72
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Nykesha Sales scored five of her 19 points in the final 1:15 to lead Connecticut over Detroit. Wendy Palmer added 18 points to help the Sun beat her former team for the second time in three days. Lindsay Whalen added 12 points and a franchise-record 13 assists. All-Star Cheryl Ford returned to the Detroit lineup after missing three games for her grandfather's funeral. She missed nine of her first 10 field-goal attempts and did not score in the first half, but finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Swin Cash led the Shock with 20 points and Ruth Riley added 18.
Sparks 83, Lynx 67
MINNEAPOLIS -- Mwadi Mabika scored 20 points to lead six Los Angeles players in double figures, and the Sparks handed Minnesota its third straight loss. Lisa Leslie scored 13 points and Nikki Teasley added 11 for Los Angeles, and three players had big games off the bench. Christi Thomas scored 14 points and had a game-high eight rebounds, Tamecka Dixon scored 11 and Tamika Whitmore added 10. Nicole Ohlde led the Lynx with 19 points and seven rebounds.
Monarchs 63, Mercury 57
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Kara Lawson scored 13 points to help Sacramento defeat Phoenix. Phoenix rookie Diana Taurasi missed her first seven shots in the second half and finished with 16 points. She was 7-for-19 from the floor. It was the second loss in a row for the Mercury. DeMya Walker had 12 points and seven rebounds for the Monarchs.
