DRUG ARREST Long stare tips off wary cop

A man who called the suspect was brought in for questioning.
GIRARD -- A Youngstown man was arrested on drug possession charges, and a Girard man could face charges on allegations of wanting to buy some.
A Girard police officer said he was stopped next to a vehicle at a red light when the driver gave "a long, unusual stare," reports said. When the officer ran the license plate, it showed the driver, Dennis E. Clark of Fairgreen Avenue, Youngstown, had no valid license.
When Clark was stopped, the officer asked that he and his female passenger exit the car, at which time the officer noticed the couple fidgeting near the front of the car. Additional officers were called, and a search of the vehicle turned up bags of marijuana and suspected crack cocaine hidden in a napkin in a damaged section of the car's grill.
The couple were taken into custody in separate cruisers, and while Clark was being booked another napkin with a bag of marijuana was found in the rear seat of the cruiser, reports said.
Charges
Clark was charged with no operator's license and possession of drugs, and was set for arraignment this morning in Girard Municipal Court.
The woman has not been charged.
According to reports, during questioning, Clark's cell phone continued ringing, and an officer answered, saying Clark was not available. After arranging a time and place to meet the man on the phone, police picked up an Idaho Street man and took him to the station for questioning.
Police plan to confer with the prosecutor today about filing solicitation of drugs charges against the Idaho Street man.
