CHICAGO -- Paul Konerko and Joe Crede homered in a five-run third to back a solid six-inning effort from rookie right-hander Felix Diaz on Saturday in the Chicago White Sox's 6-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs.
Jose Valentin added a solo homer in the seventh for the White Sox, who lead the majors in scoring and tied the interleague series between the teams at 1-1.
Diaz (1-1) got his first big league victory in a frenetic setting at U.S. Cellular Field. He'd just been called up Friday to start the game after Scott Schoeneweis was put on the disabled list with a sore elbow.
Roughed up in his first two major league starts earlier this season when he gave up 11 earned runs in 82/3 innings, Diaz was more composed in his third start.
He allowed six hits, including Corey Patterson's solo homer in the fifth, and three runs. Cliff Politte pitched 11/3 scoreless innings, Damaso Marte got one out in the eighth before Shingo Takatsu retired Sammy Sosa on a grounder to end the inning.
Takatsu, the Japanese saves leaders known as "Mr. Zero," pitched a perfect ninth for his third save in as many chances, extending his scoreless streak to 251/3 innings.
Cubs starter Carlos Zambrano (8-3), who'd won four straight decisions, suffered his first loss since May 25. He gave up eight hits and a season-high five walks during his 127-pitch outing.
Konerko's second three-run homer in as many games followed walks to Frank Thomas and Carlos Lee in the third and gave him 19 for the season, one more than he had last year.
After Timo Perez singled and then drew several throws from Zambrano as he danced off first, Crede connected to left center for a 5-0 lead, sending the mostly White Sox crowd into a tizzy.
The Cubs pecked away. Patterson doubled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Sosa, who was a DH for the first time since 1989 when he was a rookie with Texas. When Aramis Ramirez, Todd Hollandsworth and Derrek Lee hit consecutive two-out singles, the Cubs had cut the lead to 5-2.

Blue Jays 10, Expos 5
TORONTO -- Miguel Batista pitched seven strong innings, and Frank Menechino and Reed Johnson hit home runs to lead Toronto.
Toronto took advantage of three errors by Montreal, which entered with the fewest errors in the majors, leading to four unearned runs.
The Blue Jays won despite missing their top three hitters: first baseman Carlos Delgado, center fielder Vernon Wells and left fielder Frank Catalanotto, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a strained right groin. Batista (6-5) allowed three runs on eight hits, while striking out two and walking three. He has a 1.94 ERA in June.
Jose Vidro homered for Expos, who have the worst record in the majors at 24-48.
Montreal might be playing its last series in Toronto, although major league baseball is pushing back its decision on where to relocate the Expos until after the All-Star break.

Angels 7, Dodgers 5
LOS ANGELES -- Garret Anderson's second two-run homer drove in the go-ahead runs in the eighth, and Vladimir Guerrero added a two-run shot and scored three times to help the Anaheim Angels rally.
Anderson's sixth homer off Guillermo Mota followed a leadoff single by Guerrero and snapped a 5-5 tie.
The win was the Angels' sixth straight against Los Angeles dating to last season. They hit four homers in handing the Dodgers a 13-0 loss on Friday night.
The Dodgers have lost six straight since winning two of three against the New York Yankees last weekend.
