SANDLOT BASEBALL 17 hits lead Livi Steel
John Morris pitched a two-hitter in the Astro Falcons' 10-0 win over Mink.
STRUTHERS -- A 17-hit attack helped propel Livi Steel past Youngstown Propane 15-4 in the Class B League baseball action at Cene Park on Friday.
Livi (16-6) led just 5-0 after four innings then scored five runs in the fifth and five more in the sixth frame.
Shawn Carr had three hits including two doubles to pace the Livi offense.
Propane (8-14) scored all its runs in the last of the fifth inning.
Astros 10, Mink 0
John Morris (5-0) pitched a two-hitter with five strikeouts for the Astro Falcons (18-5). Jarad Bartholomew, Chad Baker, Brett Pitzulo, Adam Wgley and Bill Christian all had doubles for the Falcons. Mink is 14-8.
Wharmby 6, Sugar 1
Jessie Alfreno (4-0) pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts for Wharmby (19-4).
Dustin Kulka and Cody Dillon each had two hits and JC McCoy doubled for the Wharmby team.
Sugar (6-17) fell behind 6-0 after three innings and could not regroup.
Express 10, Roth 2
Dan McCloud had three hits for the Express (2-21).
Arron Budibaugh and Joe Detko doubled for the Express, which scored six times in the fourth inning.
John Virostko doubled for Roth (3-19).
Rondinelli 5, Koch 2
Phil Williamson and Andy Wilmouth tripled for Rondinelli (12-11), which used a four-run sixth inning to wipe out a 2-1 deficit.
Dom Modarelli tripled and Grant Sevek doubled for Koch (15-8).
The Koch team was held to just three hits.
Class AA
YOUNGSTOWN -- Sean Wardle had three hits to lead Roth Brothers to an 11-4 win over Action Sports.
Mike Sledd earned the win for Roth (12-2), while Ryan Johnson and Rick Gozur each had two hits.
Joe Vrona added a three run triple as Roth Bros. won its 10th straight.
Matt Kerney had four hits and Ray Jaminet added two hits for Action Sports.
