Association offers ham-radio classes

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Mahoning Valley Amateur Radio Association will conduct an amateur radio course from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday evenings beginning July 19 at ITT Technical Institute, 1030 N. Meridian Road.
The six weeks of classes will help students learn basic radio theory in preparation for taking a ham-radio license exam. Students successfully passing this exam will earn an entry-level amateur radio license from the Federal Communications Commission. License exams will be given Aug. 30 at the conclusion of the course for students taking the classes. The course is free, but students will be required to buy a study guide for $15 at the first class. Registration deadline is July 6.
