Anniversary celebrations to be held in honor of brothers and sisters



XThe 50th anniversary of their weddings will be celebrated July 4 by Mr. and Mrs. Otis R. Crum, 292 Blueberry Drive, Columbiana, and July 10 by Mr. and Mrs. George R. Crum, 224 Carbon Hill, East Palestine.
The two brothers married the two sisters July 11, 1954, at the First Presbyterian Church in East Palestine.
Otis and his wife, the former Mary Lou McCown, will be feted at an open house reception to be held from noon to 3 p.m. July 4 at First Presbyterian Church in Columbiana.
Hosts for the event will be their daughters and sons-in-law, Sally and Tim Tomcik and Janette and Monty Harlan, all of Albion, Ind., and Nancy and Steve Fortenberry of Austintown. The couple have nine grandchildren. Their son, Jim Crum, is deceased.
Mrs. Crum retired in 1957 from the former Union Commercial Bank in East Palestine where she was a bookkeeper. Actively involved in the church, she has been a Sunday school teacher, a deacon and a member of the Presbyterian Women. She is a coordinator with the Youth Club which she helped organize 30 years ago, and is also kitchen coordinator.
Mr. Crum served as a corporal with the 11th Army Airborne Division, and retired in 1992 after 30 years of service as a splicing technician with Ohio Bell in Columbiana. He is also involved in the church where he has served as an elder, deacon Sunday school teacher and as a member of the Youth Club staff. He is also a member of the American Legion.
George and his wife, the former Shirley Ann McCown, will be honored during a family dinner party to be held July 10 at Shakespeare's Restaurant and Pub in Ellwood City, Pa.
Their sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Roxann Crum of Niles, Mich., and Don and Elaine Crum of East Palestine will host the event. Also participating will be their three grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Crum was an accounting clerk with the L.W. Nash Co. in East Palestine from 1951 to 1981. She is an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of East Palestine where she has served as treasurer for 12 years. She is also a member of the Tennis League at Brady's Run.
Mr. Crum served from 1951 to 1955 as an Airman 1st Class with the Air Force. He was employed as a building repairman for Ohio Bell/Ameritech in Columbiana from 1955 to 1991. He is also a member of the church and of Telephone Pioneers.
