Quaker Steak & amp; Lube restaurant in Sharon prepares for Small Ships Revue on Friday

SHARON, Pa. -- It's time to get your ships together and head for the Shenango River in downtown Sharon.
The annual Small Ships Revue, an event put together by Quaker Steak & amp; Lube, is set for Friday.
Anyone can enter the event. All they need is a craft that will float the few hundred yards from the launch site down the river to Quaker Steak & amp; Lube.
The pre-Revue registration party begins at 3 p.m. at Quaker Steak, and the pre-launch parade will form at 5 p.m. at Penn State Shenango and move out at 6 p.m.
Police will block off Railroad Avenue, and portions of East State Street, Shenango Avenue, Silver Street and Penn Avenue for the parade route.
The ships will launch at 7 p.m., competing for more than $5,000 in cash and prizes, including a grand prize of $1,000.
The first 250 crew members entered in the event get free T-shirts, and participants are encouraged to build their craft around a theme, a business or their imagination.
All entrants must wear life preservers and sign a waiver of liability.
The evening will end with a fireworks display at 10:15 p.m.
Police said people will be allowed to walk across the State Street Bridge over the river but won't be permitted to stand on the bridge to watch the flotilla.
Safety concerns about the bridge and its railings have prompted the ban, police said.
The Connelly Boulevard Bridge over the river will be closed to vehicular traffic during the flotilla.
