BOARDMAN -- Traffic on Interstate 680 will be restricted to one lane for 500 feet under the Thalia Road Bridge in the township from Friday to July 6 for bridge construction.
Motorists using the Thalia Road Bridge over 680 will be detoured to South Avenue, Midlothian Boulevard, then Youngstown-Poland Road from July 6 to Nov. 6 so crews can complete the project.
Teen faces drug charges
YOUNGSTOWN -- After finding seven individually wrapped rocks of suspected crack cocaine near Robin Betts' foot in a car on McGuffey Road, police arrested the 16-year-old girl at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday.
At the juvenile justice center, a detention officer found a bag with 10 OxyContin pills in the girl's pants pocket, police reported.
Betts, of Lansdowne Boulevard, faces charges of aggravated trafficking in crack and drug abuse, reports show.
Truck competition winner
AUSTINTOWN -- Keith McMurray of Austintown took third place in the Minnesota Truck Driving Championships on June 12 and 13 at D & amp;T Trucking in Little Canada, Minn. McMurray, a professional truck driver with Transport America Inc., competed in the straight truck class. There were 93 drivers in the annual competition.

BOARDMAN -- The Mahoning Chapter of the American Red Cross offers emergency preparedness checklists to the public.
The list provides information on how to protect yourself and cope with sudden severe conditions, such as flash floods or heavy rainstorms, by preparing an emergency system for your household, including evacuation plans and an emergency supply kit. Contact the Red Cross at (330) 726-6063 for the list.
Also, should disaster strike, the Red Cross will provide emergency assistance.
DUI, vehicular homicide
YOUNGSTOWN -- Bond has been set at $40,000 cash or surety for Randall K. Richardson, 40, of Lilburne Drive. He faces charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and having a blood-alcohol content of more than 0.17. The legal limit is 0.08. Police allege Richardson's BAC was 0.19 when his vehicle sideswiped a car in February on the Himrod Avenue expressway, causing the death of its passenger, 35-year-old Claxton Phillips Jr. Richardson was arraigned Wednesday in municipal court and will be back in court June 30 for a preliminary hearing.
Woman reports scamin Liberty Township
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 57-year-old Liberty Township woman told Youngstown police she was scammed out of $350 Wednesday, reports say.
The woman, according to reports, said she was approached at Belmont Avenue and Gypsy Lane by a woman claiming to be from Africa.
The woman and a man asked the victim to donate money to a church in Africa in exchange for a large sum of money, reports say.
The Liberty woman gave the other woman $350, and the couple gave her a sealed envelope later found to contain no money.
North Side garden tour
YOUNGSTOWN -- The North Side Citizens' Coalition will have its first North Side garden tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. More than 10 gardens are on the tour. Participants will start the day by registering at the rear entrance of Stambaugh Auditorium.
Tickets are $8 for coalition members and $10 for nonmembers.
Tickets can be reserved by calling the coalition at (330) 747-1674.
Tickets also will be available Saturday for $12.
Used-tire collectionfor Hubbard residents
HUBBARD -- A used-tire drop-off will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the township administration building, 2600 Elmwood Drive Extension, for city and township residents only. There is no limit to the number of tires, within reason. Tires on or off rims will be accepted, but no truck or tractor tires are allowed. Identification will be checked to verify residency.
