South Range official accepts post at Hiram

GREENFORD -- The South Range School District has said goodbye to its athletics director of 18 years.
Don Feren announced earlier this year he was leaving to join the coaching staff at Hiram College.
The board of education accepted his resignation at a recent board meeting, "but with regret," said Jim Hall, schools superintendent. "He did tremendous work here."
During his 30 years at South Range, and before being named athletics director, Feren taught various subjects and coached a number of sports teams. Daniel Szolek has been named to replace him.
The board also hired David Purins to fill a post in the physical education department. He will also coach football, basketball and track, among other sports.
Board members also said it was with regret they accepted the resignation of high school secretary Patricia Ferraro, who has been with the district 26 years as a secretary, teacher, coach and cheerleading advisor.
