1950s-style diner to open in fall

BOARDMAN -- The Park Classic Diner, a casual, 1950s-style eatery featuring a chrome and neon decor, will open this fall at 1035 Boardman-Poland Road, a former Pizza Hut site.
Groundbreaking for the 99-seat, 3,800-square-foot diner is scheduled for later this month. The restaurant will employ about 70, including table hops, cooks and "soda jerks."
The menu will feature 95 items, including burgers and fries, eggs, waffles and milkshakes, in addition to daily blue-plate specials. Breakfast, lunch and dinner entrees will be available any time, seven days a week.
Pittsburgh-based Eat 'N Park Hospitality Group operates two other Park Classic Diners, both in the Pittsburgh area, and 78 Eat 'N Park restaurants. Parkhurst Dining Services is the group's contract dining services division, and its CURA Hospitality provides dining and contract management services to senior living communities.
Pizza Hut relocated recently from the Boardman-Canfield Road spot to South Avenue near Western Reserve Road. The restaurant at the former site has been torn down.
