SANDLOT BASEBALL Mike Eliseo's grand slam, triple highlight team's 18-1 cakewalk



Joe Koch Construction-Line Drive built a 14-0 lead over Youngstown Express.
STRUTHERS -- Mike Eliseo's second-inning grand slam was the big hit for Joe Koch Construction-Line Drive, but it came after his team already had a 14-0 lead on Youngstown Express in Class B League action Sunday at Cene Park.
The 18-1 win raised Koch Construction-Line Drive's record to 13-5. Eliseo also tripled while teammate Adam Zakowski had a double. Aaron Boris also had two hits for the winners.
Despite the lopsided run total in the five-inning game, Koch Construction-Line Drive had only three more hits than Express' five hits.
Aaron Rudibaugh went 2-for-2 for Express (1-17), which was rocked by six errors.
Livi Steel 5, Rondinelli 4
Livi Steel was out-hit, 9-6, but two-runs in the seventh carried the team to its 12th win in 18 games.
Shawn Carr (2-1) struck out nine for the winners, who held Rondinelli to one run in the seventh.
Rick Banna had three hits and Carr helped his own cause with two hits.
For Rondinelli, Doug Brown and Tom Clayton had two hits apiece while Dan Babyak tripled.
Astros 11, Dave Sugar 0
Adam Wigley and Brett Pitzulo had three hits apiece and Frank Turocy added a pair for Astros (15-4). Mike Ellis (3-0) struck out seven while giving up just three hits.
Wigley finished with five RBIs while Pitzulo pushed across two runs.
Wharmby 3, Mink Financial 2
Matt Guerrieri (1-0) pitched three hitless inning in relief and Wharmby's helped him with a two-run sixth inning that carried the team to its 16th win in 18 games.
Billy Herman and John Warren had two hits apiece for the winners. Ryan Hallapy had a double and knocked in two runs for Mink, which out-hit Wharmby's, 8-6. Hallapy and Matt Pytlik finished with two hits for Mink.
Wharmby 13, Rondinelli 4
Eleven runs in the last three innings sealed Wharmby's victory.
Jessie Alfreno (3-0) went the distance for the winners, who got three RBIs from Pat Oman and a pair from Billy Herman. Herman finished with four hits and Kyle Milbert two.
Propane 4, Roth Bros. 3
Three runs in the sixth lifted Youngstown Propane, which got two hits, including a double, from Mike Evans. Justin Herberger struck out three in an inning of relief for the save.
Justin Caraballo and Brendan Meenachan had two hits apiece and Jeff Claar doubled for Roth, which out-hit Propane, 9-5.
Class AA LeagueBazetta-Cortland 13, Muscle Works 3
YOUNGSTOWN -- Steve Boxler had a home run and single for three RBIs while Eric Lance had a double and single for Bazetta-Cortland Optimist in a five-inning game at Pemberton-Donnell Park.
Boxler and Lance accounted for four of their team's 10 hits.
Mike Dobos threw a four-hitter and struck out five for Bazetta-Cortland. Steve Atkinson, Edgar Mosco, Mike Huston and Dave Stryffler had singles for Muscle Works. Muscle Works reliever Kyle Grusezcki allowed only two hits over 31/3 innings.
