WARREN -- People who didn't get a chance earlier this week to see the designs of the first two new city elementary schools will get another chance.
Linda Metzendorf, school board president, said the drawings will be displayed at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library along with comment forms to allow viewers to provide feedback.
The library is fairly centrally located, its hours are longer than those of the school board offices, and during the summer months, many parents visit the library with their children, the board president said.
Jan Vaughn, a library spokeswoman, said the drawings are expected to arrive at the library Wednesday morning and will be displayed on the main floor.
Plans for the first two schools, to be constructed at the McGuffey and Lincoln elementary school sites, were unveiled at community meetings earlier this week.
Project details
The district is constructing all-new school buildings through an estimated $170 million Ohio School Facilities Commission project.
OSFC is providing 80 percent of the funding, with a bond issue passed last year by voters footing the remainder.
The district plans five new kindergarten-through-eighth-grade schools and a new high school. Current school buildings likely will be demolished, although new schools will be built before the old ones are razed.
The plans were unveiled at a morning meeting at McGuffey and an evening meeting at Lincoln. Plans for both new schools were discussed at each session.
"I'm going to recommend that from now on, we have a morning and an evening meeting for each site -- to make more of an effort to be accessible," Metzendorf said.
Both schools' designs feature separate areas for elementary and middle school children. Classrooms stretch to about 900 square feet, and each features a window.
