Ikebana presents annual exhibition



YOUNGSTOWN -- Ikebana Youngstown held its annual exhibition June 5 and 6 at the D.D. and Velma Davis Education and Visitor Center at Mill Creek Park. Ikebana schools represented were Ikenobo, OHara, Sogetsu and Ichiyo.
Participants were Elsie DeHoff, Dorothy Haddox, Beverly Italiano, Pearl Marlos, Evelyn Resek, Esther Bertch, Kathie Stackpole, Susan Black and Sheila Bowman.
Ikebana is the arrangement of plant material in the Japanese manner, which is viewed for its beauty but not judged.
Ikebana, a member of the Garden Forum of the Greater Youngstown Area, meets at 10 a.m. the first Tuesday of most months at the Davis center. Shirley Winkler is a master Japanese instructor of the Ichiyo School and presents lessons twice a year at Ikebana meetings. She also belongs to Pittsburgh Ikebana International.
