GARDEN FORUM Scholarships, awards presented at show
Three students are the recipients of scholarships.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Garden Forum of the Greater Youngstown Area conducted a flower show June 12 and 13 at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park.
A highlight of the event was the awarding of ribbons to garden club members and the presentation of three scholarships to qualified students.
Pearl Marlos of Silver Leaf Garden Club captured a blue ribbon and a gold seal in horticulture, and a blue ribbon and gold seal in design. Sheila Bowman of Nature Lovers won a blue ribbon in design and a blue ribbon and a gold seal in horticulture. A blue ribbon in design also went to Ester -.
In the horticulture division, blue ribbons went to Norma McMahon, Irene John and Mary Schall, Austintown; Rose Marie Roth and Millie Campean, Gleaners; Patricia Tarajack, Girard Herb Society; Diana Mullins, Immaculate Heart; Audrey Korenic, member-at-large; Lynn Hoffman, Men's Garden Club; Joyce Cervone, Mahoning; Bowman, Nature Lovers; Dorothy Haddox, Our Lady of Fatima; Erma Adams, Sweetbriar; Regina Webb, Salem; and Roxanne Macynski and Mary Macynski, public.
Marlene Menold and Carol Lunger, members-at-large, received blue ribbons and gold seals in horticulture.
Also presented
The forum also awarded college scholarships to $500 each to three area students, Scott Pavelko of Ohio State University and Kathryn Fatula and Tina Gillam, both of the Agriculture Technical Institute in Wooster.
Jean Davidson was chairman for the event and show judges were Arlene Logan, Judy Smith and Regina Webb.
