DRUG TASK FORCE Raid captures $10,000 worth of drugs



No arrests have been made, but the investigation continues.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Officers with the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force's drug union discovered about $10,000 worth of suspected drugs, more than $1,500 in cash and weapons during a search Friday at a Glenwood Avenue home.
The structure at 3013 Glenwood was searched by the drug unit with assistance from the task force's critical response team. Officers found more than 50 grams of suspected heroin, about a half-pound of marijuana and other drugs, cash, four loaded handguns, ammunition and drug paraphernalia.
Also related to the case, officers searched a home at 347 W. Indianola Ave. with the consent of the occupant and found an assault rife with a flare launcher and more than 1,300 rounds of ammunition.
Investigation
No arrests have been made stemming from the searches, but the investigation continues.
The task force's investigators for the case are Detective Sgt. Jeff Solic of Austintown police and Sgt. Cris Ruiz of Canfield police. The warrant is part of a three-month investigation.
The Mahoning County Sheriff's Department and Youngstown, Goshen, Milton, Liberty, Poland village and Springfield police and the FBI also assigned drug investigators to the task force who assisted with the case.
The Critical Response Team, assisted by the U.S. Marshals Service and Youngstown police, entered the Glenwood building using four entry teams. It was equipped with outside cameras and surveillance equipment and had three pit bulls on the property.
