CLASS B LEAGUE Shannon two-hits Astros to victory
Propane's Mike Evans lowered his league-leading ERA to 0.50.
STRUTHERS -- Robert Shannon pitched a two-hitter with 15 strikeouts as Astro Falcons blanked the Youngstown Express 5-0 in Class B League action Saturday at Cene Park.
Shannon (2-2) allowed two singles by Brian Banger, and no runner from Express reached third base.
Adam Wigley, Mike Pulakos and Brett Pitzulo had two singles each for second-place Astros (14-4).
Tom Kelly went the distance for Express (1-16) as he fell to 0-2.
Livi Steel 7, Dave Sugar Excavating 1
Justin Byler had a single, double and triple and drove in two runs to lead Livi Steel (11-6). Jay Mitaly (2-1) scattered five hits and struck out five as he pitched a complete game to pick up the win.
Kyran Gardner had two hits for Sugar (4-13), while losing pitcher Travis Boyle hit a double.
Youngstown Propane 3,Koch Construction/Line Drive 0
Mike Evans allowed one hit, a second-inning single by Anthony Porter, as Youngstown Propane defeated Joe Koch Construction/Line Drive Academy.
Evans (3-0) lowered his league-leading ERA to 0.50. He had four strikeouts and walked two.
Steve Lumpp drove in the first run of the game with a double in the fifth inning, while Rob Sullivan had a sacrifice fly and Evans a run-scoring single in the seventh as Propane improved to 7-10.
Alex Oles (1-1) of Koch/Line Drive (12-5) started and took the loss. He went five innings and had eight strikeouts.
Only one runner for Koch/Line Drive reached third base.
Mink Financial 9, Roth Brothers 5
Pat Elias, Mike Brown, Shawn McDonald and Ryan Hallapy had two hits apiece for Mink (12-5), which is tied for third place with Koch/Line Drive. Elias and Brown each hit a triple.
Chris Pechalk went six innings for the win, his first in three decisions.
Ryan Foust and Paul Kalmer had doubles, while Bobby Smith suffered his fourth loss for Roth (2-15).
