B'NAI B'RITH Tribute banquet set for June 27 in honor of Myra Benedikt



She will receive the Guardian of the Menorah award.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Myra Benedikt will be honored by Youngstown B'nai B'rith as the 2004 Guardian of the Menorah during a tribute banquet at 6:30 p.m. June 27 at Temple El Emeth, 3970 Logan Way.
The Guardian of the Menorah Tribute is given annually to an outstanding member of the community who has demonstrated through service and commitment his or her devotion to the caus of youth and general community.
The honoree
Benedikt, a Liberty Township resident, is the immediate past president of Youngstown Area Jewish Federation and former president of the Jewish Community Center.
She serves on the board of directors for Temple El Emeth, is co-chairwoman of the Jewish Federation Strategic Planning and a board member of Interfaith Home Maintenance. She also serves on the Jewish Community Relations Council.
Benedikt is the co-founder and coordinator of the Tennis in the Park Program.
She also has served on the African-American/Jewish Dialogue Committee, Ballet Western Reserve board and United Way Allocations Committee.
Benedikt belongs to Temple El Emeth and Children of Israel Congregation. She is a member of El Emeth Sisterhood, Hadassah, B'nai B'rith-Jewish Women's International and Zionist Organization of America.
She has been recognized for her service with the Woman of Valour Award, the Marvin and Sarah Itts Award and Youngstown Area Jewish Federation Young Leadership Award.
