Youngstown man faces assault and drug charges

YOUNGSTOWN -- A 23-year-old city man was arrested on a felonious assault charge after a woman told police he fired five shots at her from a handgun from about 10 feet away Thursday afternoon, but every shot missed her.
Arrested on that charge was Wally W. Moxley, of West Warren Avenue, who was also charged with drug abuse after a sheriff's deputy found a small bag of suspected marijuana in his pants pocket, police said.
The 46-year-old woman went to an apartment building at 2155 Market St. looking for Moxley about 2 p.m., when Moxley stepped out onto the front porch, fired the shots and fled on foot, she told police.
Police arrested Moxley a half-hour later at his residence. Police seized a kitchen knife they found in the front yard at the Market Street address, which the woman said she carried for protection, but dropped when she saw Moxley holding a gun.
Police said they didn't find the gun, but that they did find two .22-caliber hollow-point bullets they believe Moxley placed under the rear seat of the police car that took him to Mahoning County Jail.
