Literary arts group seats trustees board



YOUNGSTOWN -- A board of trustees was installed by the Pig Iron Literary and Art Works Inc. during a meeting held June 1 at 26 N. Phelps St.
Inducted for the fiscal year of June 2004 to May 2005 were Terrance Esarco, Schwebel Baking Co.; Christine Flak, Turning Point Counseling; Jim Jordan, Trumbull County Educational Service Center; Frank Marr, General Motors, Lordstown; Carol Stowe, retiree of First Energy Corp.; Jim Villani, Pig Iron Press; and Joyce Zitkovich, Boardman School System.
Marr will serve as chairman; Stowe, secretary; and Flak, treasurer.
The public membership organization sponsors programming in the literary arts. Current programs include the second Tuesday open poetry reading at Cedars Cafe, a monthly creative writing workshop at Pig Iron Press, a poetry slam on Aug. 18 and an open poetry reading contest.
The organization also sponsors the Pig Iron Poets, a troupe of poetry performers, who will entertain at 2 p.m. July 10 and 1 p.m. July 11 during the Youngstown State University Summer Festival of Arts and at First Night Youngstown on Dec. 31.
