HOMICIDE Paroled preacher's son suspected in slaying of 92-year-old woman

TULLAHOMA, Tenn. (AP) -- For years, neighbors marveled at the spunk of 92-year-old Flossie Barr, who often could be seen working in her yard and pushing a lawn mower.
Now they're talking about her murder and the man the prosecutor called a suspect -- the preacher's son.
The news has unsettled people in the city of 18,000, where Tullahoma Mayor Stephen Cope said there are typically one or two homicides a year.
The victims usually are "somebody buying or selling drugs," he said. "No one as innocent as Mrs. Barr."
Barr, a widow who lived alone in a mobile home across the street from the First Church of Jesus Christ, was last seen alive May 21. She was mowing.
A few days later, miles away from her trimmed grass and blooming day lilies, Barr's body was discovered under brush and rubble in some woods.
Coffee County prosecutor Mickey Layne said shell casings were near the body and Barr might have been shot.
Suspect
No one has been charged, but Layne identified a suspect as Henry Alfred Honea, a 42-year-old parolee and son of the church's pastor. He's now in state custody, and the grand jury is to consider an indictment against him in August.
One day after Barr disappeared, investigators spotted Honea in her car. They said he bought beer at a market and during a chase, crashed Barr's Mercury Topaz and fled around a house near the church. Honea was shot in the knee when he reached for a handgun, investigators said.
