Giant Eagle store to close
NILES -- Barney Macali said he will close his independently operated Giant Eagle supermarket at Youngstown-Warren Road and state Route 46 effective June 26. Macali said he was unable to restructure the store's lease to allow for profitable operation.
Giant Eagle said the 40 employees will be considered for hiring by other stores. The Macali family will continue operating two other Giant Eagles in Niles and Warren.
Girard chamber to meet
GIRARD -- The Greater Girard Area Chamber of Commerce will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Girard Free Library, 105 E. Prospect St.
