MEMORIAL PUBLIC LIBRARY Facility offers programs for all ages



July 20 is the deadline for poetry festival entries.
EAST PALESTINE -- East Palestine Memorial Public Library staff invites readers of all ages to "Discover New Trails at the Library" during the library's summer reading program.
The summer reading program runs through Aug. 10 and will include the reading mentorship program "Book Buddies," weekly storytimes and crafts. Children and adults are welcome to participate.
Among the weekly programs are family storytime for all ages, at 1 p.m. each Wednesday afternoon beginning this Wednesday to Aug. 4. A craft program for children 6 to 10 will be at noon each Thursday beginning this Thursday to Aug. 5.
Book Buddies for children in kindergarten through fifth grade begins at 11 a.m. Monday. The children will be paired with older children or adults for reading, games and crafts.
Book Buddies also will be at 11 a.m. June 28, July 5, July 12, July 19, July 26, and Aug. 2.
Camp Wanna-Read will be at 1 p.m. June 22 for readers age 6 and older. The program will include camping games and crafts, and wilderness survival techniques from Scott Boggs and Josh Boley of Troop 45 of the East Palestine Boy Scouts.
Toddlertime sessions will begin at 10 a.m. June 24 for children 2 and 3 and a parent or caregiver. Other sessions will be at 10 a.m. July 15 and Aug. 5.
More programs
A Dr. Seuss Festival for children age 5 and older will be at 1 p.m. June 29, including stories, games and crafts based on Dr. Seuss books.
A program based on "Little House" books by Laura Ingalls Wilder will be at 1 p.m. July 6 for children 6 and older.
Children 2 and older can visit with Peter Rabbit at 1 p.m. July 9.
Trent the Magician will present a program at 1 p.m. July 13 for children 5 and older.
Dive Into Reading will be 1 to 3 p.m. July 19 to July 23 at the East Palestine City Park Community Center. The program is offered by the East Palestine Elementary and PTO for children in kindergarten through fifth grades.
Read, Snack and Learn will be at 1 p.m. July 27. Children 5 and older can make some snacks related to their favorite picture books.
A scrapbooking program will be at 1 p.m. Aug. 3 for ages 10 and older. Participants should bring three to five photographs to make a scrapbook page.
The library staff also is accepting entries through July 20 for the 10th annual poetry festival.
Poets of all ages are invited to submit up to three poems of any style or theme. Categories are for poets 13 and younger, 14 to 21 or older than 21.
