Possible theft charge
LIBERTY -- A 46-year-old township man may face charges of theft and tampering with a fire hydrant after police were told that he was illegally filling his pool.
Police found a blue hose attached to a fire hydrant in the 600 block of North Lawn Avenue around 2:40 p.m. Saturday that stretched to a pool in the back yard, reports said. The homeowner told police he had a permit to use the water from the hydrant, but it was in his truck at work. When officials from the water department in Youngstown were contacted, they said such permits are not issued, reports said.
Police plan to confer with water department officials today to decide whether to file criminal charges.
