Heinz will stump for stepfather

FARRELL, Pa. -- Christopher D. Heinz, son of Teresa Heinz Kerry, will be stumping for his stepfather, John Kerry, in a Tuesday meeting with local Democrats.
Heinz, 31, will speak at the New Deal Club on Emerson Avenue at 8 p.m.
He's the son of the late U.S. Sen. John Heinz, a Republican, but, like his mother, has switched his allegiance to the Democratic Party.
His mother married Kerry, who is expected to be the Democratic nominee for the presidency this fall, in 1995.
Heinz is a graduate of Yale University and worked in New York City as a venture capitalist before stepping down to work full time in the Kerry campaign, serving as a fund raiser and surrogate speaker for Kerry.
Although Heinz grew up in Washington, D.C., he spent summers at the family home in Fox Chapel, Pa., and is being touted as a likely Democratic challenger to U.S. Rep. Melissa Hart of Bradford Woods, R-4th, provided that he establishes residency in the western Pennsylvania district, which reaches into southern Mercer County, including Farrell.
So far, Heinz has made no public personal political commitment beyond his stepfather's campaign.
