Fellow actors applaudGovernator's role in film
LOS ANGELES -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's five-minute cameo as an egocentric, polygamist prince in Disney's "Around the World in 80 Days" has fellow actors applauding his willingness to mock his Hollywood image.
"I think Schwarzenegger don't care in this movie; he make fun of himself," said Jackie Chan, the film's star and executive producer, on the red carpet before the film's premiere Sunday.
Schwarzenegger, who faced allegations during his gubernatorial campaign of having groped women, donned a wig and robes in his role as the indulgent Prince Hapi, who boasts a wife for each day of the week.
"I think it's a little ironic, but I think it has Arnold's sense of humor," said "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" co-star Robert Patrick, who attended the screening. Macy Gray, Rob Schneider and Kathy Bates, who appear in the film, also attended.
"I think he was a very good sport, to throw away his ego and accept to wear this stupid wig and funny bathrobe," said "Around the World" star Cecile De France, whose character ends up in a hot tub with the governor in one scene.
Schwarzenegger, who filmed the part before the campaign, was invited to the premiere, but his office earlier said he would not have a role publicizing the film, which opens nationally Wednesday.
"I think maybe he's got slightly more important stuff about running the state of California," said Steve Coogan, who plays the wacky scientist Phileas Fogg.
Rap star surprisescrowd at 'Hot 100' party
LAS VEGAS -- Snoop Dogg made a surprise performance at the Hard Rock hotel's new nightclub during Maxim magazine's annual "Hot 100" party.
The rap star played for about an hour Saturday night to a crowd packed with celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Vin Diesel and Josh Duhamel, star of the NBC show "Las Vegas."
About halfway through the show, Snoop Dogg pulled Hilton, the New York socialite and reality TV show star, on stage and paraded her in front of the crowd, praising her beauty.
Hilton, clad in a slinky pink dress, made the "Hot 100" list, Maxim's annual roundup of the year's most sexy and intriguing women in entertainment.
Also on the list is Carmen Electra, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos and "Survivor" winner Amber Brkich.
The party was held at the sprawling, multistoried Body English, Hard Rock's newly renovated nightclub.
Campbell's DUI sentencedelayed for music festival
PHOENIX -- Country music singer Glen Campbell, who pleaded guilty last month to extreme drunken driving and leaving the scene of an accident, had his sentence delayed so he could perform Sunday at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville, Tenn.
Campbell is scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday to 10 days in jail, according to his plea agreement. He had been scheduled to appear in court today.
He'll be eligible for work furlough after 48 hours and is expected to serve 75 hours of community service under the deal.
A charge of aggravated assault was dropped.
Campbell was arrested in November near his Phoenix home after leaving the scene of a minor traffic accident. While in custody, he allegedly kneed a police officer, who wasn't hurt.
Police said breath tests on Campbell showed he had a 0.20 blood-alcohol level at the time of his arrest. The legal limit for Arizona drivers is 0.08.
