Judge revokes bond of accused officer

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- A judge revoked bond Friday for a county SWAT team member accused of stealing thousands of rounds of ammunition and trading them for weapons at a gun shop.
The Allegheny County district attorney's office successfully argued a 1995 amendment to the state constitution permitted the revocation of Officer Mark Martin Short's bond because he posed a danger to the community, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported on its Web site.
A raid of Short's home Monday turned up a thousands of rounds of ammunition and dozens of weapons, District Attorney Stephen Zappala said.
The arsenal was a danger to the neighborhood, so Short posed a danger to the public, Zappala's spokesman Mike Manko said.
The officer told investigators that he had stolen more than 10,000 rounds of ammunition intended for the SWAT team, for which he was a driver, and traded some of it at a Beaver County gun shop.
