YOUNGSTOWN -- Susan U. Huber was installed as president of the YWCA board of directors during a meeting May 26 at the YWCA.
Serving with her will be Susan M. Moorer, first vice president; Karen Luke, second vice president; Penny Miller, treasurer; and Rosemary McLaughlin, secretary.
Huber has been active in the YWCA since 1998. She is a former first vice president of the board and chairwoman of the Women's Art Committee for the YWCA "Women Artists: A Celebration" exhibit. She is a member of the YWCA building renovation, finance and strategic planning committees.
Huber is an instructor at Youngstown State University with the department of education and is a doctoral student in literacy at the University of Akron.
She serves as president of the Youngstown Symphony Guild and Unit 111 American Contract Bridge Association.
New members on the YWCA board for 2004-07 are Marseille Ballard, Brenda Myers Cohen, Deborah S. Liptak and Wilma V. Torres.
Courtney Zemkosky, a student at Springfield High School, was named to the youth board.
Re-elected for the 2004-07 term were Delphine Baldwin-Casey, Jan Belleville, Patricia Bonaquist, Penny Miller and Carolynn Mitchell.
Recognition
Ruth K. Bradshaw, outgoing board president, recognized the accomplishments of those who contributed toward providing programs for women and their families.
Huber received the YWCA Board Member of the Year Award, Sharon French, Volunteer of the Year; and Betty Patterson, YWCA life skills specialist, YWCA Employee of the Year.
Named to the 2004-05 YWCA nominating committee were Ruth Bradshaw, Susan M. Moorer, Rita Cintavey, Mary Lou Green, Kathleen W. Johnson, Verna Brown Kness and Amy Mirkin.
For nearly 100 years, the YWCA has served women and families in the Mahoning Valley. The agency continues to meet the needs of women and families through housing and supportive services, child care, youth development, health education and outreach. For information call (330) 746-6361.
