INDICTMENT Wife of slain man, partner are charged with murder
The two were being held in Medina County Jail.
MEDINA, Ohio (AP) -- A man and woman have been indicted in the slaying of the woman's estranged husband at his home, the same house where the victim's daughter was killed in 2002.
Laurie Mishne, 44, and Dan Gordon Johnson, 35, were charged Thursday by a grand jury in the death of Merle "Mickey" Mishne, 73. Both are charged with aggravated murder, a charge which could result in a death sentence, Medina County Prosecutor Dean Holman said.
Holman said the two likely would be arraigned Monday in Medina County Common Pleas Court. They were being held Friday in the Medina County Jail.
He said both also are charged with murder, a lesser included offense for the jury to consider. Holman said Laurie Mishne is accused of assisting Johnson in the killing.
The body of Merle Mishne was found May 30 in his barn in Montville Township, about 25 miles southwest of Cleveland. The next day Mishne and Johnson were arrested in Cleveland.
Laurie Mishne and Johnson had lived together in Florida before coming to Ohio. They also are charged with obstructing justice and tampering with evidence.
The Mishnes' 17-year-old daughter, JoLynn, was beaten and stabbed to death in November 2002. Dustin Lynch, 17, pleaded guilty to aggravated murder in December and was sentenced as an adult to 20 years to life in prison. Lynch had been a guest at the Mishne home.
