What you'll need money for:
Two months' rent, the first month's rent and the deposit (some landlords require the last month's rent also.)
Have the utilities turned on (electricity, water, gas and sewer and trash service and/or a phone and cable TV. Some of these things may be included in the rent, others will require a deposit before they will turn them on.
Furniture, if apartment is unfurnished.
Bedding, towels and washcloths, shower curtain, kitchen linens, silverware, dishes, pots and pans.
Things such as soap, shampoo, cleaning supplies, needles and thread, light bulbs, trash cans, toilet paper, aluminum foil, etc. Look around your parents' house and make a list of items that you will need.
Food, including staples such as salt, sugar, spices, ketchup, cooking oil, etc.
Appliances, such as a refrigerator and stove, are often included, but not always.
Other things you might want include a television, stereo, computer, DVD player, washer and dryer, iron, etc.
Transportation costs -- car maintenance and insurance, bus fare, etc.
