Track: Pocono International Raceway (triangular oval, 2.5 miles, 14 degrees banking in turn 1, 8 degrees in turn 2, 6 degrees in turn 3)
Race distance: 500 miles, 200 laps
Last race: Mark Martin snapped a 72-race losing streak by winning the MBNA 400 at Dover International Speedway. Kasey Kahne appeared to be on his way to victory, but he skidded in oil on the track and crashed with 18 laps to go.
Last year: Tony Stewart rebounded from some bad luck the previous two weeks and won the Pocono 500. Stewart had an engine problem two weeks earlier at Lowe's Motor Speedway, then lost at Dover International Speedway after NASCAR imposed a one-lap penalty for stopping slightly out of his stall on pit road.
Fast facts: Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished third at Dover and leads Jimmie Johnson by 98 points in the standings. ... Ryan Newman is winless through the first 12 races after recording eight in 2003. ... Jeremy Mayfield earned his first Winston Cup victory in the 1998 race. ... Terry Labonte came from 27th to win the 1995 event. ... Jimmy Spencer grew up in Berwick, Pa., about 40 miles from Pocono Raceway.

Last race: Greg Biffle gave team owner Jack Roush a sweep in the two races at Dover by taking the rain-delayed MBNA America 200. The race started Saturday and lasted just 28 laps before being postponed until Monday.
Last year: Scott Riggs took the series points lead for the first time in his career by running away for his second victory in the past five races at the Trace Adkins "Chrome" 300 in Gladeville, Tenn.
Fast facts: Michael Waltrip won the Pepsi 300 at Nashville on April 10. ... Points leader Kyle Busch has 10 straight top-10 finishes and 14 in 21 career starts. ... NASCAR fined Brad Teague and Jeffrey Smith $2,500 each and put them on probation for fighting on pit road after the Concord, N.C., event on May 29. ... The track replaced Nashville Speedway, where a Busch event has been held since 1984.

Last race: Chad Chaffin became the sixth different winner in as many races -- a series record -- after taking the MBNA America 200 in Dover, Del. Chaffin took the lead following a caution and held on for the final 52 laps.
Last year: Brendan Gaughan regained the lead with five laps left and went on to win his third straight race at Texas Motor Speedway by taking the O'Reilly 400. Gaughan edged Carl Edwards by 0.865 seconds for his third career win -- all at Texas.
Fast facts: Standings leader Dennis Setzer finished 18th at Dover and had his lead shrink to 20 points over Edwards. ... Rick Crawford is expected to make his 180th truck start -- all consecutive -- this weekend. ... Jon Wood has three top-10 finishes, including one top-five placing, in five career truck starts at Texas. ... The series returns for the Silverado 350K on Oct. 16.

Last race: Michael Schumacher, who had his season-opening five-race winning streak end with a crash at Monaco, rebounded to capture the European Grand Prix in Germany for his 76th career victory.
Last year: Michael Schumacher won his fourth race of the season and finally took over the lead in the standings by beating his brother, Ralf, at the Canadian Grand Prix. Michael Schumacher took over the lead when Fernando Alonso had to make his stop, and because passing is so difficult on the track, no one challenged him the rest of the way.
Fast facts: Jenson Button has two second-place finishes and three third-place showings in his last five races. ... The event has been staged at three circuits since its inclusion in 1967 -- Mosport Park, Mont Tremblant and its current host, the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. The track is named for the father of former series champion Jacques Villeneuve. ... Only seven cars finished the 1968 race at the unstable Mont Tremblant track, with Denny Hulme taking the victory. ... Riccardo Paletti was killed at the 1982 event after he slammed into the back of Didier Pironi's stalled car at the start.

Last race: Buddy Rice recorded his first career victory at the rain-shortened Indianapolis 500, becoming the first American to win since Eddie Cheever in 1998. Rice took the lead at lap 172 and was in front when another storm ended the race eight laps later.
Last year: With one lap to go after a restart following a caution period, Al Unser Jr. outdueled Tony Kanaan to win the Bombardier 500.
Fast facts: No IRL driver has won consecutive races at Texas. Scott Sharp and San Hornish Jr. are the only ones to have multiple victories at the track with two apiece. ... Sharp edged Robby McGehee by .059 seconds in the 2000 event and lost to Hornish Jr. by .0188 of a second in the October 2001 race. ... Hornish Jr. and Gil de Ferran are the only polesitters to win at Texas.

Last event: Brandon Bernstein moved atop the Top Fuel standings after defeating Doug Kalitta at the O'Reilly NHRA Summer Nationals in Topeka, Kan. Whit Bazemore extended his points lead in Funny Car by besting Eric Medlen in that final and Greg Anderson posted his seventh Pro Stock victory of the season.
Last year: Larry Dixon became the first Top Fuel driver to win three straight races with his victory at the Pontiac Excitement Nationals. Tony Pedregon earned his sixth Funny Car victory of 2003 when team owner John Force was disqualified for crossing the center line in the final round, and Greg Anderson took Pro Stock.
Fast facts: Columbus native Jeg Coughlin recorded his first NHRA national event victory during the 1990 event. ... There have been four different Pro Stock Bike winners in as many events this season. ... This is the 39th year of the event. Only Indianapolis Raceway Park and Pomona Raceway have been around longer than National Trail Raceway, which has hosted an NHRA national event every year since 1972. ... Chuck Harris won his only Pro Stock title at the 1996 event.
