Woman charged in drug-related death
PULASKI, Pa. -- An 18-year-old Volant woman was charged in the drug-related death of a 21-year-old man Saturday morning.
The victim, Joshua E. Rudzik, was found unconscious at about 8 a.m. Saturday in his Landau Drive residence and pronounced dead at 9:12 a.m. that day in Jameson Memorial Hospital.
Meagan C. Bohrer of Main Street is charged with drug delivery resulting in death (classified as third- degree murder), involuntary manslaughter and illegal possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
Rudzik ingested five or six 10-milligram Methadone pills Bohrer had given him at a small party at his residence, Pennsylvania State Police said. Ingestion of Methadone was the leading cause of Rudzik's death, said Dr. Karl Williams, the forensic pathologist at Ellwood City Hospital, who performed the autopsy.
The charge of drug delivery resulting in death carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and a fine of up to $15,000 upon conviction, said Matthew T. Mangino, Lawrence County district attorney, who approved the charges.
