Area athletes competing
BOARDMAN
Mark Lipinsky: Has twice finished third in Division I in the 110-meter hurdles at the state meet. Holds school record with a time of 13.96. Won Mahoning County and Federal League titles in the event and has competed in the Nike Indoor National Championships, finishing 14th. He will compete in the Adidas Outdoor National Championships next weekend.
Brittany Durkin: A four-time state qualifier in the 4x800 relay and a three-time All-Ohioan in the event. Helped the Spartans run 9:11.38 to finish third in 2003 -- the 10th-fastest time ever run at the state meet. Also a three-time state qualifier in the 1600. Competed in the Adidas National Outdoor Championships for two straight years. Four-time academic All-Ohioan.
Kristen Lauer: Won county, district and Federal League titles in the high jump, including a career-best height of 5 feet, 3 inches at the Federal League meet.
CANFIELD
Emily Wollet: Holds school record in the 400 and was the fastest senior in the event in Div. I at the state meet, finishing fourth.
BEAVER LOCAL
Pat Woods: Won Div. II state title in the high jump last weekend, jumping 6-10. Woods finished second in the event in 2003.
