MERCER COUNTY Remodeled courthouse will hold an open house
MERCER, Pa. -- The public will get a look at the newly remodeled Mercer County Courthouse in an open house July 16.
Commissioner Olivia Lazor said the grand opening begins at 9 a.m. and the public is welcome to visit the building and see the offices during their normal operating hours.
However, the ceremony marking the rebirth of the structure officially won't begin until 5:15 p.m.
Gov. Ed Rendell has been asked to be the featured speaker, she said.
Details aren't final, but the one-hour program will feature a full color guard, representation from 28 veterans groups and musical entertainment, Lazor said.
The courthouse will then be opened for self-guided tours, she said.
The project, originally estimated at about $10 million, has taken about two years to complete and will come with a final price expected to exceed $12 million.
