CLASS B Wharmby Sports' streak reaches 10
STRUTHERS -- After losing on opening night, Wharmby Sports won its 10th straight game, beating Livi Steel 8-6 in Class B action Wednesday at Cene Park.
Wharmby remains in first place with a 10-1 record. Astro Falcons is second with a 10-2 mark.
Mike Holmes (3-0) went the distance, allowing just one earned run while striking out five and walking one.
Pat Oman hit three singles and J.C. McCoy added two hits for Wharmby, which won despite committing five errors.
Livi Steel was paced by Josh Geric with two hits, and Steve Orlosky had a double. Jordan Karcher suffered the loss despite allowing just one earned run.
Astros 5, Line Drive 2
Doubles by Chad Baker and Brandon Skoff in the three-run sixth inning lifted the Falcons over Joe Koch Construction/Line Drive Academy (8-3), which halted a six-game winning streak.
Baker and Skoff also had singles, while Brett Pitzulo had a triple for the Astros.
John Morris won his second game as he tossed a complete game, with no walks and six strikeouts. Luke Kershner (2-1) suffered the defeat as he went five innings and allowed four runs.
Adam Boris had a triple and Dom Modarelli a double for Line Drive.
Three other games scheduled were suspended due to inclement weather. They will be played at a later date.
