Ex-schools chief fined
GIRARD -- Raymond E. Getz, former superintendent of Lordstown schools, was fined $300 and placed on probation for nearly a year Wednesday in municipal court.
Getz, 57, of New Jersey Avenue, McDonald, was found guilty of not having physical control while under the influence. It was amended from driving under the influence.
Charges of leaving the scene of an accident and failure to control were dismissed by Acting Judge Robert Shaker. The judge placed him on probation until June 1, 2005, suspended a 180-day jail sentence and $700 of a $1,000 fine.
According to the police report, Getz was leaving the parking lot of the Holiday Inn MetroPlex at Belmont Avenue in Liberty Township when his car collided with an SUV.
2 bidders seek to leasespace for social services
WARREN -- Trumbull County commissioners received bids from two prospective property owners looking to lease space for a Trumbull County one-stop social service center.
PKAM LLC.'s bid was for a $120,000 lease in the former St. Joseph Hospital building at 1400 Tod Ave. N.W. The other bid was from Covelli Properties for $217,500 for space at 6000 Youngstown Road, Niles. Bids were opened Wednesday.
The building is to provide space for roughly 35 intake workers from Jobs and Family Services, Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission, representatives of the city schools, Trumbull Metropolitan Housing Authority, Community Solutions and others.
The plan is for a one-year lease to cover the time between the July 31 end of the lease on the agency's Market Street building and the time the lease on the agency's South Park Avenue location runs out in September 2005. Workers from JFS are in both locations; after September 2005, commissioners intend to relocate the entire agency into one facility.

Finamore said Ronald Klingle, president of Avalon Holdings Corp., donated the money a few weeks ago, and the device, which will help firefighters find people in smoke-filled buildings, has been ordered. Neither Klingle nor Fire Chief Richard Brannon could be reached to comment.
