JOE ROZZI, 82 Fireworks manufacturer from New Castle

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Joe Rozzi, who carried on the fireworks tradition started a century ago by his grandfather, has died. He was 82.
Rozzi died Friday morning at Jewish Hospital, according to Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home. No cause of death was available.
Rozzi's Famous Fireworks was all about family, said Arthur Rozzi, the oldest of Joe Rozzi's seven children.
"It's the only thing he knew," he said. "He learned it from his father, and his father learned it from his father. I guess you work at it so long, it becomes a part of you."
Joe Rozzi's grandfather, Paul Rozzi, learned the craft in Italy and started the family business in New Castle, Pa., in 1895. In 1930 it moved to Cincinnati when the company started doing shows at the city's Coney Island.
Joe Rozzi took it over from his father, Arthur Rozzi, in the 1960s, and 10 family members still work there.
In addition to his oldest son, Joe Rozzi is survived by his wife, Jeanette, and six other children.
Burial Mass is set for Tuesday at the St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church in Cincinnati.
