Crisp, Blake lead Tribe to 3-2 win
Rick White earned his third victory of the season Saturday night.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Coco Crisp homered and Casey Blake hit a go-ahead, two-run double in the Cleveland Indians' 3-2 win over the Anaheim Angels on Saturday night.
Rick White (3-1) got with the victory with 22/3 innings of three-hit relief after taking over for injured starter Joe Dawley.
Matt Miller struck out Jose Guillen with two on to end the eighth. Jose Jimenez, the fifth Cleveland pitcher, got three outs for his third save in five chances.
John Lackey (3-7), whose five-game suspension for throwing at Toronto's Simon Pond on May 24 is being appealed, lost his fourth straight decision.
Dawley, a 32-year-old right-hander making his eighth major league appearance and second start, retired his first batter in the fifth but had to leave the game after straining his right elbow on his next pitch to Alfredo Amezaga.
Dawley was charged with two runs, three hits and two walks while striking out four. A week earlier, he threw 91 pitches in four innings and allowed three runs on four hits and five walks in a no-decision against Oakland at Jacobs Field.
Lackey loses
Lackey gave up three runs and eight hits in eight innings, struck out four and walked two -- both intentionally.
The right-hander, who allowed eight hits in three innings last Sunday at Chicago in the shortest outing of his career, has a 7.53 ERA in five starts since pitching a three-hit shutout against Tampa Bay on May 7.
Crisp hit his fifth homer in 636 career at-bats with one out in the fifth to trim Anaheim's lead to 2-1.
The Indians took the lead in the sixth when Blake's hard grounder up the third-base line glanced off the glove of third baseman Chone Figgins for a two-run double. Figgins was making his 15th start in pace of Troy Glaus, who is likely out for the season after undergoing shoulder surgery May 21.
Figgins hit his second home run in the third inning after a walk to Josh Paul.
