MCCONNELL'S MILL
The Uncalculated Risk: Participants will have an opportunity to learn about various hazards that bodies of water present. This program, slated for 1 p.m. today in the Kildoo picnic area, will explore water risks, what to look for and how to prevent injuries and preserve personal safety.
Flying Bloodsuckers: The one-hour discussion, set to begin at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Kildoo picnic area, will focus on mosquitoes, diseases they can bring, prevention and what people can do around their homes.
Breads Around the World: Those interested will have a chance to learn about various breads from many countries and the grains used to make them. The program is from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday in the Mill Courtyard.
Corn grinding: The park offers two demonstration tours starting at 1 and 3 p.m., as well as two, 45-minute Grist Mill tours beginning at 2 and 4 p.m. Both tours are on Saturdays and Sundays at the Old Mill.
MORAINE
Trees are Terrific: A naturalist will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the Sunken Garden Trailhead on the South Shore to demonstrate methods used to identify trees and to discuss why trees are important.
Muddy Creek Oil Well Exhibit: The exhibit will feature demonstration days at the oil field site. Volunteers will be on-site to act as tour guides. Access to the well site can be obtained by taking Old U.S. Route 422 west from the Prospect interchange and going about a half-mile beyond the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources district office and boat launch parking lot area. This exhibit is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Night programs: Moraine offers Tuesday night programs with the park naturalist, a series of presentations that start at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 22 and 29 in the cabin area on the North Shore. Call (724) 368-3612 for further details.
