Lewis jubilee celebrated during trans-Atlantic trip



XCAMPBELL -- Mr. and Mrs. Edward F. Lewis Sr., 865 Carlton Drive, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary during a May 1-7 transatlantic trip aboard the Queen Mary 2. On April 27 they flew to London, where they boarded the ship. They renewed their vows during the voyage.
The former Angela Porfilo and Mr. Lewis also renewed their marriage vows May 22 at Immaculate Conception Church in Youngstown, where they were married in 1954. The couple received the papal blessing.
Later that day they were honored during a dinner at Leo's Ristorante and Banquet Center in Howland.
Hosting the event were the honorees' son and daughter-in-law, Edward Jr. and Marta Lewis of Campbell, and their other children, Rene & eacute; Lewis of Toms River, N.J.; Ralph Lewis of Las Vegas; and Marlene Lewis of Campbell. The family circle includes one granddaughter.
Mrs. Lewis retired in 1994 from Forum Health in Youngstown, where she was a histology technician in the lab.
Retiring in 1985, Mr. Lewis was a laborer at Adolph Johnson Construction in Mineral Ridge. He is a member of Union Local 125 and belonged to the former Arco Club. Mr. Lewis served in U.S. Army during the Korean War.
The couple are members of St. Joseph the Provider Church.
