SHORT-TERM HELP
Beight Farms: People needed to help with the summer youth camps Aug. 16 and Aug. 23. The facility is particularly looking for someone who could teach a skill, make a presentation, or entertain.
Miracles Unlimited: Volunteers needed to be a teachers' aides, assist children with activities and maintain equipment for that special program for children with cerebral palsy. The program runs from July 1 to Aug. 5 at the Youngstown YMCA on Champion Street.
Giant Eagle LPGA Classic: People needed for a variety of positions to help at the tournament, which runs from July 12-18 at Squaw Creek Country Club in Vienna.
Salvation Army: Volunteers needed to serve lunch to inner-city children about twice monthly from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the SA's mobile McSal's Canteen program.
Weekend Respite Program: Volunteers needed to assist special-needs children in a Forum Health program. Shifts are from either 1-4 or 4-8 p.m. Saturdays and 9 a.m.-noon or noon-4 p.m. Sundays through Aug. 29. People can work once or several times throughout the summer.
MRDD Special Olympics: Mahoning County's MRDD event will be June 19 at Austintown Fitch High School stadium. People are needed to cheer on the athletes and guide them to the awards stand.
YSU Summer Festival of the Arts: Volunteers of all ages needed to greet artists, assist with performances, or help in the children's art tent or the information booth.
LONG-TERM OPPORTUNITIES

Associated Neighborhood Center: Volunteers needed for summer youth programs.
Beatitude House: Drivers are needed for transportation between Beatitude House and the Potter's Wheel.Second Harvest Foodbank: A receptionist is needed for light phone work and office duty.
American Red Cross disaster services: Volunteers are needed to help provide relief to flood victims.
Big Brothers/Big Sisters: Adult role models, especially men, are needed to mentor children ages 7-14.
Boys and Girls Club: Volunteers are needed to assist with summer youth programs for at-risk children.
Fellows Riverside Gardens: Greeters are wanted to welcome visitors and provide directions and give out activity information this month through September.
Catholic Charities: People needed to help with the senior support services.
OCCHA: Volunteers needed to help with summer day camp and youth and senior programs.
RSVP: People 55 and older are asked to share their life skills and volunteer for various tasks.
Volunteer Services to Seniors: Dedicated people needed to assist senior citizens who want to remain independent. Volunteers could help by providing transportation for grocery shopping and doctors' visits or making friendly visits or telephone reassurance calls.
Youngstown Radio Reading: Volunteers needed to read from books, newspapers, magazines and other material, which is then recorded and played for the visually impaired.
