NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Works by Jack Carlton of Youngstown, Orna Feinstien of Bellaire, Texas, and Sarah Smelser of Bloomington, Ill., are part of a printmaking exhibition that will open Tuesday at Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts, 124 E. Leasure Ave. A group print exhibition by faculty from regional colleges and universities also will be displayed in the Hoyt's Blair Sculpture Walkway. An opening reception will be from 2-4 p.m. June 13. Carlton teaches at Youngstown State University; Smelser teaches at Illinois State University; and Feinstien has had solo shows in Texas and Minnesota.
Maennerchor presents'Jazz Violin Summit'
YOUNGSTOWN -- Tickets are on sale for a "Jazz Violin Summit" concert, featuring Joe Deninzon and Christian Howes with guitarist Alex Skolnick, at 8 p.m. June 16 at Youngstown Maennerchor, 831 Mahoning Ave. Cost is $15 for Peace Action Youngstown and Maennerchor members, $20 for nonmembers and $25 for preferred seating. Deninzon and Howes will play jazz standards, pop songs and original compositions before ending their performance with a violin duel. Skolnick is former lead guitarist of Ozzy Osbourne's band as well as Testament and Trans Siberian Orchestra.
Fleetwood Mac cancels
BURGETTSTOWN, Pa. -- The illness of a member of rock band Fleetwood Mac has resulted in tour date changes and the cancellation of the group's performance next Thursday at Post-Gazette Pavilion. Refunds are available at point of purchase.
