Scrappers, Express will play exhibition game at Eastwood

NILES -- For the third consecutive year, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers will kick off the season with an exhibition game against the Youngstown Express.
Gates will open for the June 16 event at Eastwood Field at 6 p.m. with the first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
Admission to the game is free, but donations will be accepted to benefit the New York-Penn League Foundation.
The exhibition game gives the public a chance to see the 2004 Scrappers before their New York-Penn League season begins on June 18.
Opener at home
This season marks the first time the Scrappers will open their regular season at home, when they play host to the defending Pinckney Division Champion Auburn Doubledays (Toronto Blue Jays affiliate).
The Youngstown Express participates in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League, a wooden bat league comprised of college players from all over the country.
The Youngstown Express, founded in 1998, plays its home games at Pemberton-Donnell Park.
