Hamilton lifts Propane past Livi
His RBI single in the ninth capped Youngstown Propane's comeback win.
STRUTHERS -- Ryan Hamilton hit a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift Youngstown Propane past Livi Steel, 5-4, in Class B League baseball action Tuesday at Cene Park.
Propane had trailed 4-0 but scored four times in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings.
Mike Evans pitched the first eight innings for Propane, allowing just one earned run. He had seven strikeouts and two walks. His two-out double in the seventh tied the score.
Jake Abbott went the first eight innings for Livi (3-2). He had a no-hitter for 4 2/3 innings before Chris Norris got the first of his two singles.
Marc Rossi had a single and a double for Livi. Jay Mitaly took the loss (1-1), while Dan Valentine got the win in relief for Propane (2-3).
Mink Financial 7, Astro Falcons 4
A six-run fifth inning lifted Mink Financial to a comeback victory over Astro Falcons. The win moved both teams to 4-1 and a first-place tie.
Jay Yorty went the distance for Mink to improve to 2-0. He had seven walks and as many strikeouts.
Ryan Hallapy, Sean McBride and Matt Pytlik had two hits each for the winners while Bill Christian and Adam Wigley had two hits each for Astros.
Wigley hit a three-run home run to give the Astros a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Then with Astros ahead 4-1 in the top of the fifth, a two-out double by McBride drove home one run, then a single by Adam Keck cut the lead to 4-3.
Hallapy then singled to tie the score at 4-4, and then after a walk, Ryan Myers hit a bases-loaded triple to give Mink the lead.
Astros had a chance in the bottom of the seventh. With two outs, three straight Astro batters walked before Yorty got the final out on a strikeout.
Joe Kohler (0-1) took the loss for Astros.
The other three games on the schedule started but were suspended due to rain and lightning. They will be completed at a later date.
