YOUNGSTOWN -- Soccer coach Anthony James has named Greg Mitchell to be his assistant. Mitchell joins YSU after four seasons as the head women's soccer coach at Davis & amp; Elkins College. In his last two seasons, Mitchell led the Senators to a 16-23 overall record.
Thiel College
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Thiel College graduate Caleb Goist of Columbiana has been selected to the 2004 Collegiate Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) Academic All-America College Division baseball team as a member of the third team. Goist started 38 games at shortstop this season for the Tomcats and finished with a .364 batting average, 38 RBIs and 30 runs scored. He finished tied for the lead in the President's Athletic Conference in RBIs (38) and doubles (14), and was third in hits (55) and fifth in runs scored (30). Goist is the school's career leader in most offensive categories, including at-bats (559), runs scored (125), doubles (42), hits (199) and is second in career batting average (.356). A Biology/Pre-Dental major, Goist was named to the Dean's List four times and was a three-time All-PAC first team selection. ... Libby Hauser, a junior on the Thiel College women's track team from Reynolds High and Greenville, won All-American honors for the second straight year in the javelin at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & amp; Field Championships. Hauser threw the javelin 143 feet even to place fifth in the national meet held last Saturday at Millikin University in Decatur, Ill.
