Masury man faces drug, gun charges

SHARON, Pa. -- Police responding to a call of shots being fired in the 300 block of Mesabi Street arrested a Masury man found with an unlicensed firearm and suspected drugs.
The shots were heard around 3:55 a.m. Sunday, and investigating officers found Maurice L. Davis Jr., 19, of Brookfield Avenue, in a vehicle in the 200 block of Mesabi Street, a known drug-trafficking area, police said.
Officers discovered that Southwest Mercer County Regional Police had an outstanding warrant for Davis on a charge of purchase of alcohol by a minor and placed him under arrest.

They said they then found a loaded .22-caliber revolver in his pocket and six small bags of suspected marijuana and one bag containing seven rocks of suspected crack cocaine in another pocket.
Davis was arraigned before District Justice William Fagley of Greenville on charges of possession of drugs with intent to deliver, carrying a firearm without a license and driving under suspension.
He is in Mercer County jail on $10,000 bond.
Police said it wasn't Davis who was firing a gun in the area. Witnesses told police they saw a man firing a gun into the air. Davis' weapon hadn't been fired, police added.
