CLEVELAND AREA Man, like daughter, is murdered

The couple were arrested in Cleveland.
MEDINA, Ohio (AP) -- A man whose daughter was killed by a friend he allowed to stay in their home was himself murdered, and police have charged his estranged wife and her boyfriend, whom he permitted to move in with him.
"Which is twice, maybe, he's made that mistake," said Jack Thompson, a Florida lawyer who had befriended Merle "Mickey" Mishne, 73.
Mishne's body was found Sunday in his pole barn in Montville Township, about 25 miles southwest of Cleveland in Medina County.
On Monday, his 44-year-old estranged wife Laurie Mishne and Dan Gordon Johnson, 35, were arrested in Cleveland on murder warrants.
They were to appear in Medina County Common Pleas Court in Medina on Tuesday.
Montville Township Police Chief Thomas Acklin said officers found Mishne's body after concerned friends reported they hadn't seen him in a while.
"There were signs of violence ... on the body," Acklin said.
He would not say what type of wounds Mishne had and wasn't sure how long he'd been missing. The body was sent to the Cuyahoga County coroner's office for an autopsy. Results were not available Monday night.
Daughter's death
The Mishnes' 17-year-old daughter, JoLynn, was beaten and stabbed to death in November 2002 in Mickey Mishne's home.
Dustin Lynch, 17, pleaded guilty to aggravated murder in December and was sentenced as an adult to 20 years to life in prison.
Lynch had been a guest at the Mishne home for eight days because JoLynn said the wayward teen had no other place to stay.
Mishne had blamed a violent video game for having inspired his daughter's murderer. The game gives points for violent acts, and Mishne was angry that the Medina County prosecutor's office did not pursue the role the game may have played in his daughter's death.
It was at that time that Mishne became acquainted with Thompson, a nationally known critic of violent video games.
Thompson said Mishne allowed his wife and Johnson, who live in Port Charlotte, Fla., to stay in his home while they were visiting in the Medina area.
