Best Bets on TV Tonight



A new documentary, "Cary Grant: A Class Apart" (8 p.m., TCM) is by filmmaker Robert Trachtenberg. Helen Mirren narrates the show, which includes interviews with Grant's friends and co-stars Eva Marie Saint, Peter Bogdanovich, Jill St. John and Martin Landau. The program is followed by "North by Northwest" (9:30 p.m.), the first of 27 of Grant's films that will be shown on Tuesday nights through June 29.
Pop star Jessica Simpson will host and perform in "Summer Music Mania 2004" (8 p.m., Fox), a two-hour music event. Scheduled to appear are Ludacris, Black Eyed Peas, Rooney, 3 Doors Down and J-Kwon.
Gloria Estefan will sing two songs during the Miss Universe Pageant (9 p.m., NBC). Miss Universe 2003, Amelia Vega, will surrender her tiara in this live special from Quito, Ecuador.
A gigantic smoothie, an enormous popcorn popper and an electric guitar only the Jolly Green Giant could play are among the everyday objects that take on new dimensions in this 16-part series, "Big!" (9 p.m., Discover). Challenged by host Frank Payne to think big, a team of craftsmen, artists and builders devise huge solutions to larger-than-life problems.
The season opener of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" (10 p.m., Bravo) has professional-wrestling twins, men who make a living by rolling around on the floor with each other. The Fab Five will have a field day with this one.
