Liberty moves into tie at top; Sparks win
Tina Thompson scored 31 points to lead the Comets to their fifth straight win.

NEW YORK -- Becky Hammon scored 24, points and Crystal Robinson added 17 to lead the New York Liberty to an 80-66 win over the Connecticut Sun at Radio City Music Hall on Saturday night.
Elena Baranova added nine points and 13 rebounds for New York, which won for the fourth time in five games to move into a tie with Charlotte atop the Eastern Conference. The Sting played at Sacramento later Saturday night. Robinson shot 6-for-8 from the floor, and Hammon was 6-for-12 -- including 5-for-5 on 3-pointers. The Liberty shot 52 percent overall and 9-for-15 from behind the arc.
Sparks 79, Silver Stars 67
SAN ANTONIO -- Lisa Leslie scored 17 points to lead Los Angeles.
Laura Macchi had 14 points, Nikki Teasley 13 and Tamika Whitmore 11 for Los Angeles, winners of five straight games.
Comets 62, Fever 54
HOUSTON -- Tina Thompson had 31 points and 10 rebounds to lead Houston over slumping Indiana.
Sheryl Swoopes added 12 points for the Comets, who did not make a field goal in the final 10:52, but sank 15-of-20 free throws down the stretch.
Tamika Catchings had 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Fever, losers of six straight games. Natalie Williams added13 points.
