Heading to Cincinnati
YOUNGSTOWN -- Friends House Chapel Church Interdenominational of Youngstown will sponsor a motor coach trip Aug. 28 to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center of African American History in Cincinnati. The coach will be leaving at 6 a.m. from the parking lot of the church at 192 Haseltine Ave. and will leave Cincinnati at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Rosary Cenacle at shrine
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Shrine of Our Lady of Comfort of the Afflicted, 517 S. Belle Vista Ave., and the Queen of the Holy Rosary Prayer Group will have a Rosary Cenacle at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the shrine. Devotions will consist of the rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet, recited during the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Refreshments will follow in the social hall.
Pastor to be installed
WARREN -- The Rev. Kelly Faulstich will be installed as a new pastor at the 10:15 a.m. worship service Sunday at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 140 Cherry Ave. N.W. Judy Hoshack, assistant to the Bishop of the Northeastern Ohio Synod, will officiate. There will be one worship service with a dinner-reception to follow. The Rev. Ms. Faulstich is a graduate of Valparaiso University and the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. She has been active in summer camping ministries, urban day camp programs with the Fort Wayne Urban Ministries and teaching with Windsor Park Lutheran Church. During her year of internship, Ms. Faulstich worked at the International Lutheran Church in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Before her call, she was assisting in worship and leading confirmation classes at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Glenwood, Ill.
Retreats for women, men
GodQuest will hold a Christian Silent Retreat for women Nov. 5-7 at Spruce Hill Inn and Cottages, Mansfield, and from Nov. 12-14 at River's Edge Inn, Huron. A retreat for men is from Nov. 5-7 at Spruce Hill Inn and Cottages. Cost includes two nights and two days of lodging with four meals and a program. Deadlines are Sept. 13 for Spruce Hill and Oct. 8 for River's Edge. Directors are Donna Lewis of Massillon and Jenny Hargreaves of Cleveland. The retreats are nondenominational. Breakfast buffet planned
NORTH LIMA -- There will be a breakfast buffet from 7-11 a.m. today. at North Lima Mennonite Church. An all-you-can-eat buffet will be available for a donation. The menu will include eggs, pancakes, sausage, toast, fruits, cereal, juice and coffee.
Guest preacher scheduled
BOARDMAN -- The Rev. Richard Steele, pastor of the Gibson Heights Second Presbyterian Church in Norwalk, will be the guest preacher at 11 a.m. Aug. 8 at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, 471 Mathews Road. The Rev. Mr. Steele, formerly of Youngstown, had served on the board of The Rescue Mission and as a chaplain to the Wilson High School athletic teams.
